"Hangman" Literary Analysis
In the short story, "Hangman" by David Mitchell, he uses Simile and Imagery to devolop the theme in the short story. For example, a simile used in the story is "By 9:15 my secret'll be spreading around the school like a poison gas attack". This develops the story because it compares his secret to a poison gas attack on himself. An example of Imagery being used in the story is, "Mrs. De Roo's shoes clop so you know it's her coming to fetch you". This is an example of imagery because it how Mrs. De Roo's shoes are very loud. These are both examples of literary techniques.

Great selection of literary techniques! Make sure to make a clear statement of theme in your topic sentence and try to have 2 sentences of analysis for every quotation.
