LotF Chapter 7 Response

I found a connection between what happened with Jack and the other boys and what we read about "Mob Mentality" yesterday. The connection is how all the hunters were so excited about the boar that they wanted to reenact it with Robert as the boar. They almost kill Robert since they forgot that they were playing a game, but Robert gets away. I can connect it to the text about "Mob Mentality" from yesterday because the boys in that incident were so obsessed with getting revenge on the man who punched one of their friends, that they ended up killing them. The boys in the "Mob Mentality" text didn't mean to kill the man, but they lost sight of the objective. Which was to get revenge. The boys in Lord of the Flies just wanted to reenact their incident with the boar with Robert as the boar, and they nearly kill Robert because they lost sight of their objective: which was to reenact the scene.

  1. Awesome insight! I was hoping someone would make this connection to mob mentality! Continue to work on incorporating quotations for support.
